February 29: Off We Go!

Mary took us bright and early to the airport. It will be a full day of traveling. Easy ride to the airport where we hit our first snag. Somehow Paul is not listed as having TSA Pre-Check. So he had to go back to the ticketing place to get it added. He didn't do it, he just went thru the non Pre-Check line. He's mad. I planned to bring the blueberries from the fridge but I forgot them.
Klutzy me put an Airborne tablet in my water bottle and closed it. I opened it once I got on board and had a geyser. Great.

We brought the flight attendants some Ghiraradelli chocolate. Carmel filled. They were grateful.

Goodbye San Diego!

We have no screens at our seat. So much for watching a movie together. I think I should have brought my tablet.

Breakfast was lovely.

We tried to play Acey-Ducy but dropped the pieces on the floor and it was hard to retrieve them. They sure have been keeping us full, lots of snacks!

We made it to Miami and have 3 hours to find our next gate which was just a short 5-minute walk. We got a meal at Manchurian Wok to split. Paul went in to the computer to add the TSA Pre-Check numbers and they were already there. We knew we had already entered them. We have no idea why the boarding pass didn't include it. Now to wander and explore for a couple hours. We found the Admiral's Club, guess we shouldn't have bought lunch. Well, we got a dessert and played Triominoes.

Our second plane is same as the first. No video monitors. And we brought a second bag of Ghirardelli chocolates for our hostesses. While in line to board, we met another couple that is on our expedition. They are part of a family of 8. Wow, that would be expensive!

The view out our window of the sunset was spectacular but I couldn't do it justice. I think the window was a bit dirty.  The cloud spires stuck up into the sky like stalagmites.

This cabin crew is not as attentive as the last one. The first one gave us beverages before departure. And chatted us up a bit. Our appetizer was nuts, lightly salted and warm.

The last of the sunset...

Dinner : mine was a stuffed pepper, Paul's an enchilada. And he liked it!

With dulce de leche ice cream for dessert...

It took a long time to get our luggage but it finally came, and then we went through passport control and got met with a sign!

City drive to get to the hotel, which is lovely. They gave us some bottled water because you can't drink the tap water. Our room is lovely. It has one of those rain showers. I took a shower when we arrived. The air is thick and humid. I washed the clothes we wore but I bet we need to use a dryer tomorrow because I don't think they will dry here.
