March 10 Lima Colonia Lima - Plaza Mayor- Casa Aliaga- Larco Museum

Explore World Heritage-designated colonial Lima this morning, where we stroll the Plaza Mayor
and delight in a private welcome lunch with a special musical presentation at Casa Aliaga, one
of the oldest houses in Lima. Then visit the extraordinary Larco Museum dedicated to pre-
Columbian art. Return to our hotel with dinner on your own to sample local fare.
Like everything else at this hotel the breakfast was way over the top. We had breakfast on a small patio with just three tables overlooking the ocean.
Breakfast is on the 11th floor like the pool
The view from our room
That's a turtle pond in front of our hotel with a park in the back. There's a bike lane through the road. They have set the bar pretty high for our accommodations. Paul looked up the price. It's $600 a night to stay here.
The flowers in the lobby. Star Gazer lollies on the bottom, not sure what the top ones are.
The 20 of us got on our great big bus and went for our tour today. We are so intrigued by the snarl of electric wires everywhere.

Lima only gets 2 inches of rain a year and gets water from inland rivers to provide for it's 12 million people.
We visited the Larco Museum of our Columbian art. Everything was recovered from burial sites. Pottery, jewelry, tapestry. a complicated counting system.
mumified child wrapped in many layers of cloth.
A separate room for erotic pottery.
 The museum has lovely gardens.
Driving on we continue to be amazed at the snarls of electric wires.
Continuing on we went to the residence of some 1500's count in the Spanish colonial style. 17 generations of his family lived here. 2 are still here. They gave us several appetizers and some drinksHad a tour of the 20ksq ft house and some native music and then lunch. Lunch started with an artichoke souffle. Paul even ate it. Vegetable risotto and pear crepes for dessert.
Then we walked a bit thru the city center before going back to the hotel.
I think something's going on because we started to see more police and they had riot gear with them.
when we got back to the hotel we saw some parasilors flying above the city buildings.Down in front of our hotel. A bunch of guys are gathering.
and there's several red shirt guys in the park right in front of the hotel. They look like private security.
I wonder what's up. I hope it's nothing.
We didn't feel like going out so I ordered vegetables and hummus from room service. I've never ordered room service before. It was really nice.
I feel so incompetent. I could not make the coffee pot work. It made hot water, not coffee. I could not make the thermostat work. Paul figured out what buttons to push. I could not make the TV find an English channel but Paul did. I'm so glad I have him in my life. I love that man.
