March 7 Bartolome and Sombrero Chino

This morning you will visit Bartolomé, an enchanting landscape where lava, mangroves and
golden sand converge. You will have the opportunity for an early morning hike to the summit of
the cone, with stunning views of the famous Pinnacle Rock and the surrounding volcanic
landscape. Later in the morning, you will enjoy some wonderful snorkeling, where you might
encounter sea lions, small reef sharks and even Galápagos penguins.
In the afternoon you will continue to explore some of the small islets just off the coast of
Santiago Island, this time a small volcano called “Sombrero Chino”, due to its resemblance to
a Chinese hat. The stark lava flows form tubes and caves that are an important nesting area
for Galápagos penguins, and the waters bathing the shore are rich in fish life. Options include
kayaking, paddle boarding, time ashore, deep-water snorkeling and Zodiac rides to take in the
other-worldly landscapes.
6:20 Hike Bartolome island dry landing
376 steps 359 ft that we will climb. It's sort of like Cowle's Mountain but with a wooden staircase.
there was a sea lion on your steps when we were trying to get back into our zodiac. We had to carefully  sneak past him. He was watching us.
After breakfast the non snorkelers can go play on the beach.
We went snorkeling. We saw sharks, starfish, many other fish, penguins a ray, some sea lions swimming with us. Next we have a lecture about Charles Darwin's legacy for mankind.
We skipped the next round of snorkeling but went out on the zodiacs to see if we can see more penguins.

we saw one loan penguin who was kind enough to stand up after a little while so we could get another view of him..
 a couple of pelicans.
Iam really a fan of the moktails!
