6:30 wake up call and all your stuff has to be out of the room by 7:00. Not a problem as we were mostly packed last night. After breakfast we took our trustee zodiac black limousines to the waiting buses for the ride to the airport.
We were dodging iguanas on the road sunning themselves on our 3 minute bus ride. We had time to wander through the airport shops before they gave us our tickets. We saw some very cute things. I got a travel shirt and a t-shirt called. Got a t-shirt and a windbreaker.
We settled into the VIP lounge at the airport at 10:00 and our flight isn't until 11:30. There's food and drinks as if we haven't already eaten them on this trip.
When we started going through the gate to board we went through a gate not listed on our ticket and Paul was vexed. The plane boarded from both the front and back of the plane, and with us sitting in the middle we were concerned there would not be bin space. Some were putting both their carry on and bags in the bins leaving little bin space dispite the announcement to put your smaller bag under the seat in front of you. We really hate it when people can't follow the rules.
As the plane was preparing there was white mist coming from all the vents. I thought it was smoke, I've never seen that before. Paul said it is just water vapor and he had seen it before.
Our normal after trip game.
Best thing- 1st day deep water snorkeling and very happy with Linblad's organization safety and preparation- laid back humor of expedition leader.
Worst thing- humidity bug bites for Paul. Unused thing we packed- rash guard because we had wet suits. What we should have brought-Joi Neck fan, Paul t shirts. most used thing- Joi-sleeves, Paul swim trunks
Best food- tropical fruit- breakfast
Worst food-one beef very tough
missed most- big salads I didn't realize how much I missed them until we got one at lunch today.
It was a very hard landing in Guayaquil, a thing that you could feel in your back. But hey any landing you can walk away from is a good one.
I'm the baggage claim is a jungle with bird soundsWe reclaimed our bags and met our guide and are going back to the hotel we stayed at before the trip for lunch. They had a lovely buffet and lots of dessert samplers. Then we will return to the airport to check our bags for an 8:00 flight to Lima. We found lounge chairs in the airport. Rested awhile, did laps for awhile. Finally boarded to go to Peru. We saw a Cinnabon in the airport. Way too full to get one but it was nice to see.
